H2O interview

Their first 20 years into the hardcore punk

by marcs77

NYC's hardcore punk finest H2O celebrates this year the 20th milestone since band's first toddling in the hardcore punk scene and as the title of their 2008's full-length goes the foursome got really nothing to prove; to themselves, to their loyal fan-base they worked their asses off to build and to those who may perhaps criticize their beliefs and what H2O stands for, you know, there are always some.
A few minutes after a sweat-soaked and very intense show they played in a small warehouse venue located at the south borders of Milano I hooked up with a bit out-breathed Rusty Pistachio (guitar) to talk about hardcore punk or better say “What Happened?” to the hardcore-punk.

VANNA to release new album "Void" on Pure Noise records

Boston’s melodic hardcore group, VANNA has announced they will release their new album "Void" June 16th on Pure Noise Records. "Void" is Vanna’s debut album for Pure Noise Records, and their 5th full length, which was recorded at the Machine Shop in New Jersey with Will Putney (Stay From The Path, Northlane, Miss May I). A full track listing can be seen below.

Vocalist Davey Muise had the following to say about the new record:

“One of the things we love most about music is the freedom to try new things and mess around with new sounds and bring different elements into play. We've gotten to work with such amazing producers and engineers in the past. As we started looking towards our future and what we wanted to capture with a new record we started jamming some of out favorite sounding records of late and they all had one common denominator- Will Putney.”

Now reviewed: INDIAN, SPIKNYKTER, FALLSTAR, HEARTSOUNDS, ZERO MENTALITY and INGESTED

INDIAN From All Purity (CD)

by Michela A.

Forget the bright colors of the upcoming spring, forget sun, daisies and blues skies...‘cause INDIAN new and 5th full-length “From all purity” out on Relapse on January 21st is here to bring you back to a dark and gloomy Hades. The Chicago-based sludge/doom quartet featuring ex member of Wolves In The Throne Room Will Lindsay is back with an extremely raw, harsh, disturbing 6-track album which will leave you with an aftertaste of inescapable oppression. Raw sound, dead-march alike rhythm section, black metal-influenced vocals and oppressive riffs, all trademark elements of all Indian previous releases, are here violently pushed to breaking point.

KYLESA interview

by Michela A.

It’s not the first time we have a talk with Kylesa, but this prolific metal-sludgy-psychedelic, better, kaleidoscopic 5-piece from Savannah, GA, has always some news to tell. We had the chance to have a beer with vocalist/guitarist Laura Pleasant in the venue’s warehouse just before their show at Arci Lo Fi in Milan, last 25th of January and we talked about Kylesa’s new album “Ultraviolet”, their record label “Retrofuturist Records” -and what lies behind these evocative names- the “new entry” in Kylesa backline and lots more. Maybe going a little bit off-topic sometimes? Well, just read and judge by yourself!

NAPALM DEATH – Release special Roadburn festival EP and charity Cardiacs cover-download!

A massively lengthy press release off Century Media camp about UK's metal grindcore masters NAPALM
DEATH.

After a successful run of dates all across Europe including shows with Hatebreed and The Exploited, Grindcore legends NAPALM DEATH are proud to announce 2 very special projects that have been in the works recently.

First of all and as of today, NAPALM DEATH are launching a special cover song of the track “To Go Off And Things” by the Cardiacs via their bandcamp site as charity download.

NAPALM DEATH’s bass-player Shane Embury checked in to comment as follows: "Since I was blessed with being introduced to CARDIACS way back in 1986 they have been one of my favorite bands of all time! Getting to meet and become friends with Tim Smith, the musical genius behind it all, over the years was an added bonus. Tim always struck me as a person with a massive heart, who had a very pure and innocent view of the world in which we live in - something i totally related to, as the world can be a dark place - he radiated happiness.
