Today reviewed: CHRONIC HATE, FALSOS POSITIVOS, DRVGR, BURY TOMORROW and DESTINE

CHRONIC HATE Dawn Of Fury: Face The Decline By The End Of Humanity (CD)

An angry man with clenched fists rising out of a mob men's grey silhouettes, a black sun rising and battles fires on the horizon is what the front cover-artwork of CHRONIC HATE's debut full-length “DAWN OF FURY: FACE THE DECLINE BY THE END OF HUMANITY” delivers to your eyes to see.
In this digital era I think that imagery plays still a big part in the album package -though new many kids seem not to care much about this aspect- and the imagery used here as well as the-end-of-world-approaching brutal death metal played by the five-some hailing from Bibione, North Italy, matches really well.

CAUGHT IN A CROWD signs with React! records

Seattle's REACT! records has news on the lastest signing.

From the first time we saw CAUGHT IN A CROWD blow up a tiny college apartment in Rhode Island, we knew that this was the kind of band we wanted to support. Urgent, sincere and inspiring are a few choice words that come to mind when we think of CIAC, which we do often! Since then we’ve gotten to know these fine young men quite well and couldn’t imagine a better band to carrying the REACT! Records banner.

LAGWAGON interview

Still putting music in its place

Ask these guys whether they feel like grown up men and you'll see what they reply. According to their birth certificates they are and their baby has been around for around 23-25 years now (depending on the sources you go through).
Goleta-outside Santa Barbara, CA's LAGWAGON has 11 official releases out (this without counting compilations and some more obscure ones me and you don't know about), toured the world wide many times, went through the usual good measure of hardships and line-up changes and made a name for themselves becoming one of the most influential punk bands of the 90's.

OFF! - "Wrong" ft. Jack Black (OFFicial video)

On Los Angels OFF I've already wrote a lengthy review of their latest work which was 90% about who's who where he was previosly seen...and just 10% about music.
The guys have a clip up for the song "Wrong" off their s/t effort that features Jack Black (no need to say who this guys is, right?), is also titled "Lost action epic Lethal Justice" and has a damn good ol' fashioned 70's police movie feel to it.

Watch it here if you haven't already.

Canada's COMEBACK KID will be on the bill of Rebellion tour 2013.

INTRONAUT Enters studio to begin working on new album

INTRONAUT, the notorious post-metal prog act hailing from Los Angeles, has entered the studio to begin working on their fourth full length album. Drums will be recorded by producer John Haddad [Exhumed, Phobia] at Trench Studios, while Derek Donley [Bereft] will be handling recording duties for all other elements. Andrew Schneider [Unsane, Cave In] will be mixing the album and David D’Andrea will be working with the band again on artwork and layout.

Vocalist and guitarist Sacha Dunable comments: “After a year of intense, full-time writing mode, we are elated to begin recording our fourth full length this week. It’s a little early to have perspective on how it compares to our past records, but it should be a banger. Expect a wildly technical, emotionally charged, organic sounding record.”

Wanna be the new SHAI HULUD singer? - SH Singer Auditions

The call to recruitment (what a sucky military term) SHAI HULUD posted on their official website. Wanna be their new vocalist?

Dear Friends,

It’s the heart that pumps the blood, not the face. The heart of Shai Hulud is its content. This remains consistent, rest assured. Faces come and go. Dust off our backs, and onward…
We are indeed searching for a front-person to lead the band on stage. Not only to effectively scream, also to actively feel and channel the various emotions of our words and music through voice, intense physical presence, and visceral interaction during and in-between the songs. Any band truly rooted in Hardcore requires its members to serve as conduits, not just players. We scream rather than sing for this very reason.

5 new reviews: SET ME FREE, MOTIVATION/SET ME FREE, YOUR MEMORIAL, RUN WITH THE HUNTED and GRAND MAGUS

SET ME FREE Walkin' The Line (MCD)

I had to keep postponing the review of this EP but finally I can spill a few beans about it.
“WALKIN' THE LINE” is the follow-up to 2010's “Only One Flag” for this old-schoolish hardcore combo hailing from Milan.
Mid 2011 Dan (ex No More Fear, Product) came on board and this didn't bring any significant changes vocally but the long time experience among the Milan hardcore and European scene the singer wears on his sleeves (said this way it seems the experience worths nothing hehe...).
6 tracks of old-school hardcore

Rumours on PANTERA, and the new video clip "Piss"

It's just me or the rumours about PANTERA spread by everyday on a crazy pace? Sure it's not a case. 2012 is not an average year for music fans. Why? Well, there are definitely plenty of good reasons to back-up my statement that I'm not gonna list here, but for those who have been asleep over the past 9 months I wanna remind one event that relates to this piece. This year sees the four-some, from Dallas, TX, celebrating 20 years since the release of that groundbreaking metal milestone that is "Vulgar Display Of Power" -band's follow-up to 91's "Cowboy From Hell" that solidified their partnership with producer Terry Date who much contributed forging the sound the Texans are known for. Vulgar is killer album that, like the jab smashing a jaw in the discussed cover-artwork, levelled what was considered metal up to the end of 80's to rise the bar to a new level of grooveness and heaviness. This record hasn't been so influential only to metal music to come in the new millenium but also to metallic hardcore that the likes of Earth Crisis (remember their "Destroy The Machines" dated '95 and the Victory sound era?)
